I miss my Mom. A snapshot of her was taken by my father at a hotel as Mom was waking from a nap. I loved the look of this pose with the pillow cradling her head and the warm colors of the bedroom, and that always present smile.
This painting made it through the first 2 phases of the 2012 State Fair Competition and went on to a show at the Hopkins Center for the Arts that fall. The frame is dark and bold–framing it with more warm tones and gave it a solid grounding.
